 Dickman
Farms is an exclusive supplier to the Ball Seed Company.
This means we have a strong partnership with Ball Seed
as their largest 'Specialty Garden Plants' network supplier.
Dickman Farms has maintained gold supplier status since
joining the network in 1998. Less than 8% of Ball's
suppliers achieve Gold Status, which is awarded to suppliers
with the highest order fill rate and highest customer
satisfaction rating.
In 2002, Ball Seed Company's national sales force elected
us, from among 250 wholesale suppliers, to receive the
distinguished People's Choice award in recognition of
exemplary customer service and consistently superior
plant quality.
At Dickman Farms we take great pride in having achieved
these accolades, and we continue to do our best at all
levels in order to maintain this prestigious position.
Many of the plants we produce are shipped to us weekly
from the Ball horticultural operations in Costa Rica,
Mexico, Holland, Guatemala, Israel, Italy and Portugal.
The stock plants and cuttings harvested from them are
grown to exacting standards. This means the rooting
process begins with a clean, healthy, uniform cutting.
Our production staff then plants cuttings into liner
trays, which are moved to our propagation section. The
liner trays are grown in a computer-controlled environment
with bottom heat and automatic irrigation. We maintain
a high level of sanitation and meticulous cultural practice
to insure that each rooted liner remains in top quality
conditions.
Liner trays are shipped by three modes of transport:
commercial airline, FedEx and by our fleet of temperature-controlled
grower trucks. We carefully package each tray in a strong,
FedEx-approved carton to ensure that our plants will
safely and securely reach their destinations. We receive
few complaints about the condition of our plants upon
arrival, so we know that the extra effort we take in
packaging is, in fact, working.
